Carmen Selame
Carmen Selame brings a wealth of experience to our firm as a fourth-year attorney specializing in defense matters. With over 2.5 years of trial experience, Carmen has successfully handled a wide range of cases from discovery to trial preparation. She has a proven track record of excellence, having already been involved in seven trials as a second chair. Carmen holds a bachelor’s degree from Mount Saint Mary’s University. She obtained her Juris Doctor from Loyola Law School in 2020, during the height of the pandemic. And despite the pandemic, she took the Bar Exam in October 2020 and passed. Carmen entered law school knowing she wanted to be a trial attorney, and took advantage of Loyola’s Concentration Program, Civil Litigation and Advocacy.
The product of homeschooling, Carmen cultivated a love for in-depth research at a young age, which propelled her on a path to study law after briefly pursuing theater in college. Carmen found the transition from theater to law seamless, given the overlap in traits needed to succeed in both: like theater, law is performance-based, requires the memorization of key phrases, facts, and the judicious use of monologuing. It also taught her how to both control her emotions and to read the emotions of others. And like theater, law requires passion, a type of passion that cannot be faked, but must be nurtured from within. That passion is the desire to advocate zealously for clients. And that is the kind of passion Carmen possesses.
When she is not a fierce advocate for her clients, she thoroughly enjoys drawing, writing stories, learning Arabic, singing, sewing, and playing video games and spending time with her husband and five children. She and her family reside in Ventura County, California.
