Myers v. Meltesen

Our client was riding his motorcycle in Burbank, CA. He was driving in a lane that began to merge with the lane next to him. The driver next to him was in a sedan that was not paying attention as they were traveling about 40 mph. The sedan merged right into our client causing our client’s motorcycle to tilt to the left. As the motorcycle tilted, our client’s foot was caught between the pavement and his motorcycle, which dragged for some time. Our client was taken to the hospital where he had screws inserted into his foot.

We contacted the insurance company to see if they would settle as our client now suffered from a permanent disability. Our client’s doctor said that while he would walk again, he would never be able to be as active as he had been prior to the accident. Our client was a highly active military veteran that would run marathons as a hobby.

The insurance company would only offer our client $30,000 to $40,000. We immediately sued. After exchanging some discovery in the lawsuit, the insurance company quickly folded and offered our client $410,000.00 to settle.
